FIXTURES

EEECO provides several fixtures that demonstrate and test physical properties in shear for plastic metal and wood. Also available are fixtures to demonstrate column behavior in fixed, hinged and free end modes.

Shear  Test Fixture STFMP
EEECO offers a series of direct shear fixtures for round metal and plastic specimens. The fixtures are used in universal testing machines in the compression mode. the shear blades are oil hardening steel, hardened to RC60. The fixture has three shear opening sizes 1/2"D., 3/8"D., and 1/4"D. The  fixture consists of a sliding plate between two outside plates. The specimen is sheared in two places and the shear forces are balanced. The shear openings are offset so that only one specimen can be loaded and tested . The fixtures can test a great variety of materials and hardness within the capacity and blade hardness of the fixture.

STFMP Standard Type

Shear Test Fixture STFW
This fixture is used with standard ASTM  wood shear specimens in direct shear parallel to grain. This fixture is used in a universal testing machine in compression mode. The unique feature of this device is that the specimens supported at the top as well as the bottom so that no horizontal force is applied to the vertical sliding member. This feature avoids rotation of the specimen around the lower line of shear.
